Losing Excess Weight Has Many Rewards: A Review of Losing Weight

Losing weight is not an easy task, but it is one you can accomplish regardless of how many time you have dieted only to regain the lost weight. No one wants to be on the weight loss seesaw and I don’t want to see you on it either. Some diets are downright dangerous and you should never use them. Some diets will help you lose weight, but put you on the seesaw.

Why should you keep trying new diets when you have lost the fight so many times? You should keep trying because of the rewards and the fact you can lose the weight and keep it off if you use the proper means and discipline. And, no, you don’t have to go around hungry or starve yourself.

When I quit driving a transport truck two years ago, I decided to lose 45 pounds. I lost 35 pounds by changing my eating habits, though not really dieting and walking two miles a day unless the roads were too slick for safely. Yes, it took discipline and determination. I cut out all sodas because of both the sugar and carbonation. Milk was dropped because processed milk has too many chemicals added to it and the processing destroys much of its value. Calcium can be obtained from green leafy vegetables and other foods.

All breads and cakes were dropped because their ingredients are unhealthy. That is even true of the “healthy” whole grain products. And the ‘cookie monster’ in me also had to go along with the sweet tooth. But guess what. After a while my cravings for those items disappeared. As a matter of fact, when I break down and drink a soda in a social gathering, I don’t even like it. That is also true of some of the other things I no longer use. That doesn’t mean I won’t eat a candy bar or cookie or piece of cake on occasion, but I don’t crave them or even enjoy them like I once did.

To be honest with you, I still have about 15 pounds I want to lose. And they will go very quickly when I decide the time is right. At the moment I don’t want to reward myself with a whole new wardrobe. I can barely wear my old clothes now. But the time will come when I think it is time for a new wardrobe and the remaining pounds will go.

Some of the other rewards of losing weight are:
• feeling better about yourself
• being more attractive
• having less pain
• attracting less disease
