1. Mindset matters. Yes, diet and exercise are important components of weight loss but if you do not have a mindset that supports your effort you will have trouble reaching your goal. Constantly remind yourself why losing the weight is important to you so your goal stays foremost in your mind.
2. Keep your eating simple. You do not want your diet plan to be hard to follow. I like to show clients how to follow the divided plate plan, simply fill half of your plate with vegetables or salad, one quarter with protein and one quarter with a carbohydrate. This gives you the confidence that you are eating a healthy meal with your calories automatically in balance.
3. Keep exercise simple. Any exercise is going to help you burn calories and feel more energy. Try a variety of fun activities such as walking and riding bike and for the best results add weight training to your routine 2 or 3 days a week, this will help you transform your body quickly and leave you feeling fit.
4. Get a support team in place. Losing weight should be looked at in the same way as any goal. It will not be without it’s obstacles and challenges and this is why having a mentor and/or group to work with is so vital to your success. Having a team of supporters in place for those inevitable moments of challenge will become a key as you lose the weight and recapture your energy.
