If you want to lose some weight to boost self-esteem then there are some things to think about. Losing weight is not generally seen as being easy and while there is no quick fix for being overweight, with proper diet and exercise you will succeed in losing those unwanted pounds and regaining your confidence.
The key is to retrain yourself to eat better and healthier. Good nutrition alone will give you that boost of energy and assist in becoming more confident in yourself.
In thinking about what steps to take on the way to a healthier and more confident YOU, it’s important to know how many calories to consume on a daily basis so that you can successfully limit your calorie intake. The theory is that you will need to burn more calories than you consume in order to actually lose weight.
What you will need to do is to determine your basal metabolic rate (BMR) so that you may know how many calories it will take to keep your body functioning properly. If one does not pay attention to the BMR they can do more harm than good to their body. The main focus in Week One should be calorie controlled intake of food that is nutritious, tasty and easy to prepare.
One can calculate their activity level. Use a calorie counter to find out how many calories are burned when doing every day activities. Sitting, standing, and stair climbing are just a few of the ways to start using that calorie counter. This will be helpful to add in Week Two.
Keep track of how many calories are taken in when eating. When the BMR number is known, calculating how many calories to eat is quite easy. It follows that if fewer calories are consumed than used, weight loss is sure to occur.
Weight loss is a two-fold program. Eat less, burn more. Burning more calories than are eaten can be as simple as taking a brisk walk or riding a bike. Take the stairs instead of the elevator when available. Put on some music and dance around the house.
By Week Three you should start seeing the results of your efforts and feel the confidence boost that is sure to follow.
It does not have to be tedious or boring to lose some weight. The benefits of feeling better and looking better are a tremendous self-esteem builder. Self-esteem and confidence go hand in hand. Confidence says that no matter what the challenge is, it will be met with a “can do” attitude. Self-esteem says that it will not be daunting. Together they say it can be done!
